Created as a digital data experience for Checkout.com, the Digital Economy Trust Index makes global online trust measurable. Drawing on a YouGov survey of over 18,000 consumers, the Index distils attitudes across digital behaviour into three core trust categories: digital transactions, the systems that protect us, and the technologies shaping what comes next.

At the heart of the experience is an interactive data visualisation that compares worldwide trust in digital payment services. Filters reveal the demographic drivers of trust, while deeper exploration unlocks subcategory scores and direct country-to-country comparison.

A supporting scroll-led editorial experience brings the data to life, combining animated visualisations and expert commentary to turn complex findings into clear, merchant-focused insight.

Launched across Checkout.com’s channels, the Index became the central reference point for press, partners and merchants. First-week report downloads were 75% higher than previous campaigns, while social engagement reached four times the performance benchmark. In a world where so much happens behind a screen, the Index made trust visible, tangible and impossible to ignore.
